Take part in developing a comprehensive partnerships platform for MH’s new tourism expansion initiative in Tanzania. Gain hands-on experience in tourism management, digital networking, strategic stakeholder engagement, and community-based tourism development while working alongside local tourism professionals and partner organizations. Contribute to ongoing initiatives through digital platform development, stakeholder mapping, research, monitoring and evaluation, and promotional material creation.
The director and founder of MH is expanding his entrepreneurial and community-driven work into the tourism sector in Tanzania. While MH focuses on improving access to quality and affordable healthcare, this new tourism initiative aims to promote sustainable, quality, and authentic travel experiences. It is designed around locally identified needs and implemented in collaboration with local communities, tour operators, accommodations, cultural groups, and regional partners.
This participatory tourism project offers students and volunteers the opportunity to contribute
to the development of a digital partnerships platform while gaining practical insight into
launching and scaling a venture within the Tanzanian tourism industry. The project emphasizes meaningful community engagement, mutual learning, and collaboration with local partners.
Goal: Contribute to a more robust, equitable, and expansive tourism network in Tanzania while providing participants with meaningful practical experience in tourism management and digital collaboration. The project aims to create a two-way learning experience in which participants develop their professional and intercultural skills while learning from local tourism operators and
community members.
Participants are encouraged to contribute relevant knowledge, practical tools, digital
resources, or strategic frameworks that can continue to benefit tourism expansion
and its partners beyond their placement. An important focus is on community participation, local ownership, and sustainable collaboration. Activities should respond to locally identified needs and strengthen existing tourism initiatives rather than create short-term interventions without lasting value.
