We always advice to start preparations for your internship or volunteerwork minimum 3 months before your departure to Africa (keeping visa procedures and necessary vaccinations in mind). If for some reason this isn’t possible anymore, we encourage you still to contact us for the possibilities.
The more information you can provide the better!
We will go through your information and select the most suitable projects for you. We will send you an email back with more detailed information about the projects, tasks and circumstances.
When you are enthusiastic about a project, we will send you our registration form. You need to return the form via email and transfer the registration fee (this will be deducted from the program costs).
How much are the registration costs?
€75 one time amount (this will be deducted from the program costs).
What are the best ways to finance my trip?
See FAQ heading; costs and compensation
We will invite you for an introduction meeting face to face or via Skype (when you live abroad). Together we will screen and discuss which project description will match with your preferences and how you can contribute to our partner organisation in Africa.
In order to start the matching procedure with our local partner organizations, we require a down payment. The amount of the down payment depends on the country (mostly €200), but are NO extra costs and will therefore be deducted from the total program costs. We will send the partner your info, preference and CV to get a project match a.s.a.p. We will check availability and create an individual job description with specific tasks based on the partner’s needs. If there is no match with your first preference, we will search for an alternative project to offer you!
We will send you our internship/ volunteer agreement and a checklist what needs to be arranged step by step. You are responsible for the necessary arrangements, but we will be there to support and advice.
We will send you the invoice with the remaining program costs, which needs to be transferred latest 1 month before your departure.
When there is enough interest we organize a Follow your African Sun Workshop (optional) regarding expectations and cultural differences. We assist you with preparations such as visa & ticket and forward your documents to the partner.
A few weeks before departure we send you a final checklist with last arrangements and items to take along on your trip. We will discuss final preparations and a specific safety preparation during a last personal or Skype meeting before departure.
Before departure we will exchange contact details (these details fall under the new privacy law and cannot be shared without permission), so that Whatsapp contact during your stay is possible.
