These projects provide interns and volunteers with an opportunity to engage in practical, field-based, and academic-oriented activities in Zanzibar. It bridges the gap between academic learning and real-world application by offering exposure to research design, data collection, analysis, and knowledge-sharing. Assisting local organizations in recruitment, staff training, office management, and building internal IT systems.
Zanzibar Internship & Volunteer Organization (ZIVO) is created since 2007 by the shared ambition of a few local people to provide technical, educational, and hands-on volunteer support to grassroots community projects on the island of Zanzibar, Tanzania, to improve living conditions of its inhabitants.Professional / Academic Fields for Interns & Volunteers in Zanzibar refer to the various areas of work, study, and community engagement where individuals — whether university students, recent graduates, skilled professionals, or passionate volunteers — can apply their knowledge, expertise, and talents while contributing to the social, economic, cultural, and environmental development of Zanzibar.
Problem statement: Innovation needed
Goal: These fields encompass disciplines providing opportunities for interns and volunteers to:
1.Gain practical experience that complements their academic or professional background.
2.Support local communities and institutions through skill-sharing and capacity building.
3.Engage in cross-cultural exchange, enhancing mutual understanding and global collaboration.
4.Promote sustainable development by applying knowledge to real-world challenges in Zanzibar.
