AA community development and wildlife research organization was founded in 2004. Combining internships/volunteer work in social development, conservation and education with adventure tours. This internship will allow you to work with our team, whilst assisting us with rewarding community development activities in either bustling Cape Town (Hout Bay), or the mountainous Kingdom of Swaziland. Social enterprises and small businesses are vital to help the economy and to bring income into families. AA has a network of these businesses which it supports though placement of interns and business mentors.
Project closed in November & December! Maximum 12 weeks (longer in combination with other country).
The focus of the Business Development Project is to understand the role that business has in improving the wellbeing and economy of a population, particularly women and their children. Many of the social enterprises and businesses employ women, who traditionally are more marginalized in the employment market, and are also members of local Fair Trade Organizations to help ensure good standards of working and pay for their employees. Students will have the opportunity to see how businesses and people are contributing to the economy of a developing country and trying to reduce the impact of things such as poverty, poor education and gender inequality.
Goal: Work together with AA staff assisting small businesses and social enterprises.
